School Council works closely with the school Principal, teachers, and parents to enhance the school experience through community initiatives and events, and to advocate for students and families.
A School Council can only be effective when the school community participates, whether by taking on a voting role, attending meetings, or volunteering at events. We encourage all parents & caregivers to participate in School Council and share your voice with the school community.
Any parent/caregiver of a student enrolled in the school is eligible to hold a School Council Executive position with the exception of:
Chair/Co-Chair cannot be a TDSB employee, whether employed at a school or the Board head office
A parent/caregiver employed at the school
A parent/caregiver employed by the Board (Toronto District School Board), but not at the school, is eligible to hold School Council positions other than Chair/Co-Chair, but must take reasonable steps to inform those qualified to vote in the election of their Board employment status.
